On Wednesday 11th February, we ran a crochet workshop at WISH. We opened it up to people of all skill levels, from complete beginner to advanced. People of all ages took part and the atmosphere throughout the whole workshop was extremely positive and welcoming!

We priced the workshop at £2 per person so that it remained affordable for all.  We had 15 people attend, which was the busiest we’ve had WISH on a Wednesday in some time.

Our volunteers prepared and served food on the day. We had tomato and basil soup, sandwiches, toasties, and strawberry scone for pudding, along with tea and coffee on the menu.

We had 3 volunteers help us run the workshop, and 4 other attendees also helped others during the session. This created a strong sense of community with people sharing skills, chatting and supporting one another which we loved to see.

The environment felt relaxed and inclusive, and participants seemed to enjoy spending time together. One attendee shared the following feedback:

“I met lovely, talented people who shared their knowledge and enthusiasm, which was so encouraging. Thank you.”

Overall, the workshop was very successful. We raised over £40, and many participants expressed interest in attending another crochet workshop in the future, as well as other similar activities or workshops.

This workshop was run during the daytime since our feedback has shown that it works well for most people interested. Who doesn’t like having something meaningful to do during the day, after all. We will continue with doing craft workshops in the day and see how things go – if there’s a lot of interest in an evening workshop we are happy to give it a try.

Overall the day was a clear success, and we are excited about the strong interest we’re seeing in future workshops!
