Climatarian Kitchen

Eat to save the earth!

Climatarian Kitchen is our food innovation group. We seek to help people understand the scale of the impact our agricultural system has on climate change and the Carbon Cost of our diets.

As part of these efforts, we run a surplus cafe and catering kitchen where our mouthwatering meals are made using food surplus or local, seasonal ingredients. By using surplus ingredients, we redirect food that might be wasted back into the community.

Waterperry Opera Festival

Climatarian Kitchen has partnered with the Waterperry Opera Festival for the second year running to serve dinners and picnic boxes to attendees for the 2026 festival.

Learn more about the partnership and how we served nearly 600 meals in the middle of a field on our blog.

Climatarian Kitchen Highlights

Our unique pay-what-you-can model removes barriers to meal access and provides opportunities for people to connect with one another.
We served over 12,000 meals made from surplus food in 2023.

Further, we suggest a Carbon Cost price of £1 per 1 car mile equivalent of emissions for each dish so people can understand the impact of their dietary choices in real time.

Thursday Senior Set Lunch

Our Climatarian Cafe, based out of WISH at 4 the Parade Kidlington, is open to all. On Thursdays we offer a special set menu for seniors in addition to our usual menu.

The Climatarian diet

A Climatarian diet focuses on flexibility, seasonality, and sustainability. Our recipes incorporate planet-friendly substitutions. Café menus have included incredibly popular dishes such as coconut chickpea curry, falafel and pumpkin hummus with fresh salad, our signature Climatarian Burger and more.

We try to add monthly recipes to our site and have a whatsapp group to share recipes as well.

Sponsor a Big Lunch

The Big Lunch is the UK’s yearly community event where neighbours and communities come together for a few hours of friendship, food, and fun. This creates connections, promoting friendlier and safer neighbourhoods where people share more—whether it’s conversations, ideas, skills, resources, or friendship.

Cherwell Collective hosts The Big Lunch a couple of times every year, and sponsors are always needed! If you can support this or any of our efforts with your business, please get in touch.
