The Cherwell Collective team was delighted to welcome several Gosford Hill School work experience pupils to our WISH premises for a week of work experience on 10-14 June.

The five teenagers were quick to settle in, sharing their areas of interest, and getting to work!

They WISH work experience pupils made great progress on a variety of tasks to help the team organise the space and make it as inviting as possible for our community.

Michael, whose IT skills were much better than anyone in the office, helped our Evaluation Office with data entry and analysis as well as initial work on an app to support marketing for a high-profile upcoming event.

Rhys (who also spent some days with the Parish Council team working on Kidlington green spaces), Chris and Abdullah enjoyed more practical work; we asked them to paint the grim and tired tables and benches outside our premises and they did a magnificent job!

Separately, a field trip to Park Hill Recreation Ground’s living sculpture, which has recently been vandalised, provided the focus for some storytelling.

We asked the boys to write some suggestions about how it could be fixed and maintained.

They came up with the following:

We were really impressed by their engagement and very helpful suggestions for future restoration and maintenance.

Lucca the more artistically talented student, drew this amazing picture of the unicorn.

The WISH team is extremely grateful for the opportunity to meet such inspiring work experience pupils from Gosford Hill School, and share thoughts and ideas. We would like to offer our utmost thanks to them and to the wonderful school coordinators.

We very much look forward to welcoming you all back to WISH at any time, and others for future work experience and events on site! If you would like to arrange a work experience or other opportunity with our team, please get in touch.
