Frustrated by commercial waste, rising costs, or supply chain challenges? Join us for free drinks, nibbles, and a casual winge about policy.

Everyone likes a good winge. Come for the food, stay for the revolution!

Are you an Oxfordshire business owner, manager, or representative who is frustrated by commercial waste, rising supply chain costs, or upcoming regulations? Do you want to have a say in shaping local policy, but don’t have the time to commit to workshops?

Join Cherwell Collective for our Wine and Winge About Waste (WWAW) session — a casual drop-in session designed specifically for our local Oxfordshire business community.

We will provide the free, delicious food and drinks; you provide the honest feedback.

Why your voice matters

Household rubbish only accounts for 14% of total waste in the UK. The real potential for reducing waste lies with industry. Following the Kidlington waste dump that made international headlines, it is time for local waste strategy to be built from the ground up by the businesses actually operating here.

Your casual feedback at these sessions will directly shape the Good Waste Charter, a grassroots initiative that will be taken straight to local councils and local working groups to build accessible, consistent, and affordable circular (sustainable!) infrastructure in Oxfordshire. This follows the exact successful model of the 2021 Good Food Charter led by Good Food Oxfordshire, which is now active county-wide policy.

Agenda (5 – 7 pm)

  • 5:00 – 5:30 PM: Doors open, networking drinks, and nibbles.
  • 5:30 – 5:45 PM: Welcome by co-hosts and a quick introduction to the feedback stations around the room.
  • 5:45 – 6:40 PM: Mingling and “winging” at different stations. A bell will ring every 10 minutes to remind you to rotate if you wish!
  • 6:45 – 7:00 PM: Closing remarks, lightning summaries from the stations, and a look at next steps.

What you will get out of it

  • Speak candidly: A safe, informal, non-judgemental environment to talk about your waste challenges with no consequences.
  • Network: Connect over a glass with like-minded business leaders.
  • Suggest practical solutions: Request resources or highlight supply chain blockages that we can actively work to resolve for you.

Apart from all that, if you just want to meet some great local people and enjoy a bit of cheer and nosh on a Friday evening, you are entirely welcome to join.
