WISH Partners come together for Great Big Green Week
Saturday 13th June saw members of the WISH Partnership gather together to celebrate the end of Great Big Green Week.
Hosted by Oxford City Farm and joined by Cherwell Collective, Share Oxford, Wild Oxfordshire, TVERC and Oxford Food Hub, the local community came along to connect with nature and experience a selection of engaging activities.
From Insect ID-ing, to badge making, arts & crafts to pop-up larders there was plenty for families to do.
Throughout the day there was a steady stream of inquisitive little people with parents trailing behind, eager to check out the animals and engage with the event.

Cherwell Collective are in the middle of our annual survey, so we used this opportunity to not only promote our upcoming Oxfordshire Waste Hackathon and engagement events, but to also talk to families about what challenges they faced when it comes to recycling household waste.

Most people agreed that paper was easy to recycle, whereas items such as dirty packaging, broken toys and electrical equipment were more challenging. They also expressed a desire for clearer labelling on plastics and a nationalised standardisation when it comes to household recycling.
We were also able to chat to the parents about the offerings our Climatarian Kitchen has each week at our cafe, which is located at our WISH HQ. Visitors loved learning about how the menu is priced based on the Carbon Cost of the food, which most thought was an ingenious thing to do.
If you are interested in any of the events we have coming up on waste or if you’d just like to visit our cafe and try the delicious food (open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm), then please do check out the details on our website or pop in to WISH and join us for a coffee.
