On 8th May 2025 at WISH HQ, the air was filled with creativity, laughter, and a touch of nostalgia as we hosted a delightful cross-stitch workshop. The workshop provided a setting to demonstrate how individuals can participate in the circular economy by upcycling donated threads.

It was a relaxed and heartwarming gathering where participants not only learned the basics of cross-stitching but also shared stories, memories, and music that made the night truly special.

Each attendee was provided with a grid cache and guided through creating their own unique patterns using the timeless technique of cross-stitch. For many, it was their first time picking up a needle and thread in years, yet the motion came back as if it had never left. Conversations quickly turned to childhood memories, with many sharing how their grandmothers taught them to stitch and knit by hand. These beautiful recollections brought a shared warmth to the room, weaving a tapestry of stories alongside the fabric in their hands.

As vintage tunes played in the background, the atmosphere grew more vibrant. A few enthusiastic participants couldn’t resist tapping their feet and eventually sharing a little dance, adding an extra dose of joy to the evening.

All stitching materials for the event were donated by our lovely WISH community, with the threads upcycled to support creative reuse. The results were not only sustainable but visually stunning. Each piece was a small work of art born from community, memory, and craft.

This workshop is just one of the many creative and sustainable activities we host each week at WISH. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or curious beginner, we welcome everyone to come along, connect, and create.
